DANBURY, CONN. — The Friends of the Ives nonprofit organization will present the second annual Art at Ives, Juried Fine Art & Crafts Show on Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday, May 27, through Monday, May 29, at Ives Concert Park on the Western Connecticut State University Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury, Connecticut. This three-day event will feature high-quality original works in a diverse scope of art forms representing every major category. Food and music, along with art classes, demonstrations and children’s events, will also be included. The event will take place rain or shine with gates open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday.
Artists are invited to submit applications via zapplication.org through Friday, March 31. The Jurying and application system will be digital and Jurors will view the artists’ work as well as accompanying descriptions in a self-paced environment taking the time needed to accurately evaluate each application. An exclusive program directory as well as a digital program will be on the Ives website all year long with 1,228,382 impressions annually, showcasing each artist’s work as well as contact information. Artist Amenities include parking on the premises, easy load-in and load-out, complimentary Sunday and Monday continental breakfast, Saturday night awards banquet “Schmoozatorium,” complete with complimentary dinner, two alcoholic beverages, live music and dancing, booth sitting, 10% off at participating restaurants and night security.
Ives Concert Park is the ideal location for this notable event to advance the visual arts in Western Connecticut, providing enhanced exposure and increased visibility for many artists while fostering the development of the show over the years. In 2016 more than 60 artists from across the US participated. The long term goal of the Art at Ives Juried Fine Art & Crafts Show is to expand awareness of the arts and enrich the artistic, cultural, educational and economic vitality of the Western Connecticut Region.
The Ives’ lush oasis of natural beauty on Danbury’s west side, hosts world-renowned artists in a wide variety of music and theater genres. The venue pays tribute to its storied roots in classical music while acknowledging the ongoing evolution of the art of live performance. With entertainment that ranges from enlightening to awe-inspiring, the Ives reflects the diverse multicultural community in which it resides; embracing the unique attributes that the artists and patrons bring to the site. The Ives is proud to work together creatively with many artists and community stakeholders such as the Western Connecticut State University Art Department, the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut and the Brookfield Craft Center to develop the Juried Fine Art & Crafts Show and to envision and inspire cultural enrichment for the entire family.
