For the last 5 years, the Westside Reggae Festival has hosted some of the biggest names in reggae. On Saturday, August 13th the 5th Annual Festival featured Romain Virgo, who made history as the youngest winner of Television Jamaica’s Rising Stars at the age of 17, this crooner—who specializes in the lovers’ rock brand of reggae—went on the win the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association’s Artist of the Year and is still racking up millions of YouTube views with his take on Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me”. Fans also enjoyed a the high energy performance of Mystic Bowie: Since the 1980’s, he has been keeping the art of music alive and entertaining audiences from New York to Japan with his vibrant music and rich performances. The festival also presented performances by the JDX band with Elaine B, Ardie Cuban, Don Minot, Professor B and the Army of Love and much more.
The Westside Reggae Festival celebrated its 5th season of bringing together families across all generations for music, food and entertainment. Since 2012, the festival has drawn a diverse audience from New Hampshire to Virginia and is now known to be the feature Reggae festival in Connecticut.
